‘Rude Awakening’ is the second of three episodes that are directed by Hammer Films alumn Peter Sasdy (‘Hands of the Ripper’, ‘Countess Dracula’), this time from a script by Gerald Savory - who had already written TV adaptations of ‘Dracula’ and ‘Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde’ and would go on to write for ‘The Agatha Christie Hour’ and Roald Dahl’s ‘Tales of the Unexpected’.
A mind-bending episode that will leave you doubting the line between dreams and reality, ‘Rude Awakening’ stars the beloved Denholm Elliott (‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’) as Norman, a real estate broker who wants to leave his wife for his secretary, Lolly (Lucy Gutteridge - ‘Top Secret!’). But, after taking on a new client who is trying to shift a creepy mansion, Norman starts suffering from ultra-realistic nightmares and is left questioning what is and isn’t actually happening. Make sure you pay close attention to this one.
